EDUCATION GOES BEYOND SCHOOLING

STREET SMARTNESS VS SCHOOL SMARTNESS

My Professors who taught me chemistry understood and taught me how to make starch, nylon, insecticide, cement, fabrics, chemicals, drinks, matches, extract sugar etc but never dim it fit to turn the processes to a business venture but Aliko Dangote, Samuel Adedoyin and the host of others who are capitalists/entrepreneurs turn them to multi-million dollar companies/investment though they don't have the academic qualifications my Professors have.

We have great Professors of Mechanical and Computer Engineering who are not as smart on the street or in real life as school dropouts like Henry Ford and Bill Gates respectively who were uncomfortable with the kind of education/training the school smarts(Professors) were giving them and left school in pursuit of their dreams and passion.

My Professors are highly educated employees with little amount of money in their bank accounts while the capitalists/entrepreneurs don't have high educational qualifications as my Professors but have millions/billions in their bank accounts and even control my highly respected academics.

In my opinion, the difference between my highly educated academics and the entrepreneurs is the kind of education they had. My Professors were asked to play it save, know little about investment and silently vow to live life in a low key with little assets and money in their bank accounts while entrepreneurs are adepts in financial education, knowing how to invest, knowing little about much with fat bank accounts and many assets.

How will it look like if we can combine both street smartness and school smartness together? I wish as academics we learn how to invest, take risks, increase our assets and the inflow of cash into our bank accounts by combining our academic dexterity with entrepreneurial eptitudeness.
